3. 교회란 무엇인가?What Is the Church?
교회는 예수 그리스도로 세워진 교회이다. The Church has been built by Jesus Christ.

 

1. 교회의 시작과 주인이 예수 그리스도이다.

The origin and ownership of the Church belong to Jesus Christ.

 

교회란 무엇인가? 하나님이 세우신 교회는 어느 나라 민족이나 종족, 어떤 시대의 사조가 만들어 낸 종교 집단이 아니다. 인간의 마음과 정신 위안을 위해서 만들어 낸 철학이나 사이비 종교도 아니다. 교회는 인간들에 의해서 세워지거나 무너지는 수준의 종교나 종교 단체는 더욱 아니다.
하나님이 만드신 진정한 참된 교회는 예수교회이다. 예수교회란, 그 교회의 시작과 주인이 예수님이고, 교회의 궁극적인 운명이 예수님에게 달려 있다. 그래서 교회의 모든 책임이 예수님에게 있고, 모든 영광이 예수님 수준의 영광이며, 교회의 모든 것은 영원히 변하지 않는 예수님 안에 있다.  

What Is the Church? The Church, as built by God, is not a religious group created by any nation, ethnicity, or cultural trend of a particular age. It is not a philosophy or man-made religion invented to comfort the human mind or soothe the soul. Nor is it a religious institution that can be built or torn down by human hands.

The true and genuine Church, created by God Himself, is the Church of Jesus. What is the Church of Jesus? It means that the beginning of the Church and its rightful owner is Jesus Himself. The ultimate destiny of the Church depends entirely on Him. Therefore, the full responsibility of the Church rests with Jesus. All its glory is the glory of Jesus. Everything about the Church exists in Jesus — who is eternal and unchanging.

“예수교회 영영 왕성하리라!”
예수 그리스도는 만왕의 왕이며 만주의 주가 되시기에, 예수교회는 실패하거나 망하는 일이 있을 수 없다. 예수교회는 예수 그리스도가 자신의 피로 사신 그 분의 몸 된 교회이다. 그래서 예수교회 회복이라는 주제는 하나님의 선포이지 사람들의 인정을 구걸하는 것이 아니다. 이렇게 되면 좋겠다는 사람들의 눈물겨운 소원이나 갈망, 희망정도가 아니다. 예수교회 회복은 영원히 다르게 될 수 없는 하나님의 결론이자 뜻이다. 
‘예수교회는 반드시 회복되고, 반드시 일어선다’는 말은 세상에 구원이 임한다는 말이고, ‘예수교회가 흥왕한다’는 말은 악한 사탄의 세력이 심판의 불구덩이에 들어가게 된다는 말이다. ‘예수교회가 세워져 간다’는 말은 하나님의 거룩한 영광이 온 땅에 임한다는 선포인 것이다.

Let the Church of Jesus thrive forevermore! Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Therefore, the Church of Jesus cannot fail, and it cannot fall.  It is His Church—purchased by His own blood. It is His Body. The restoration of the Church of Jesus is not a desperate plea for human recognition.  It is not a wishful desire or an emotional longing.  
It is the divine declaration—God’s unchanging will and final word.
To say,  “The Church of Jesus will be restored and will rise again” is to declare that salvation is coming to the world.
To say,  “The Church of Jesus will flourish” is to proclaim that the forces of Satan will be cast into the fire of judgment.
To say, “The Church of Jesus is being built up” is to announce that the holy glory of God is coming upon the earth.

 

말씀기도 Scripture & Prayer

A. 먼저 본문을 읽고 묵상하겠습니다.  Let us begin by reading and meditating on today’s passage.

말씀을 묵상하며 깨닫게 된 생각을 나누겠습니다. Let us now take time to reflect on these Scriptures and share what the Holy Spirit has revealed to us through this meditation.

 

B. 이제 말씀이 결론이 되도록 기도하겠습니다. Let us now respond in prayer as God’s Word leads us.

1. 그동안 우리가 자랑해 왔던 교회가 예수 그리스도가 세우신 교회와 동일하였는지 돌아보자. 주님이 십자가를 통해 세우신 교회는 외형적인 건물이나 내부적인 조직과 제도, 수많은 교회의 사역이 아니었다. 참된 교회는 시작과 주인이 예수 그리스도이기에 모든 뜻과 결정권이 예수님에게 있어야 한다. ‘주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이십니다’라는 믿음의 반석 위에 주님이 친히 세운 예수교회임을 알고 믿는 은혜를 주시도록 기도하자.

Let us examine whether the Church we have been so proud of truly aligns with the Church that Jesus Christ established.
The Church that our Lord built through the Cross was never about physical buildings, internal systems, or a multitude of programs and ministries.
The true Church begins with Christ, belongs to Christ, and must submit all will and authority to Christ.
Let us pray for grace to recognize and believe that the Church of Jesus is founded on the rock of this confession: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

2. 하나님의 아들이신 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 만물이 창조되었고, 만물은 그를 위하여 있는 것이다. 이런 예수 그리스도가 교회의 머리시며 근본이시고, 교회를 자신의 몸이 되게 하셨다. 이는 주님이 친히 만물의 으뜸이 되셔서 하나님 아버지의 모든 충만이 그의 안에 거하여 이 땅에 있는 교회를 통하여 드러내어 주셨기 때문이다. 예수 그리스도의 몸인 예수교회가 이 진리를 세상에 담대하게 선포하며 그의 십자가의 피로 화평하게 하신 복음의 증인으로 서도록 기도하자.

Through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, all things were created, and all things exist for Him.
This same Jesus is the Head of the Church and its foundation. He made the Church His own Body.
Why? Because the fullness of God the Father dwells in Him, and He has chosen to reveal that fullness through the Church here on earth.
Let us pray that the Church of Jesus—His Body—will boldly proclaim this truth to the world, standing as a faithful witness to the Gospel of peace made through His blood on the Cross.

2. 예수교회 회복은 성경대로 이뤄진다. The Restoration of the Church of Jesus Will Be According to Scripture.

이 땅의 교회가 예수교회로 온전히 회복되는 일을 꿈꾼다면 우리의 열정에서 시작하면 안된다.

If we truly long for the Church on earth to be fully restored as the Church of Jesus, it must not begin with our passion.

우리가 교회를 회복하려면 먼저 돌아가야 할 곳이 있다.

Before we can restore the Church, we must first return to where it all began. 

그것은 교회를 만드시기 위해 그 꿈을 품어 마음에 담아 생명으로 낳으신 주님에게 돌아가야 한다.

We must return to the Lord, who conceived the dream of the Church in His heart and brought it forth through His very life.

주님께서 지금까지도 교회를 포기하지 않고 더욱 뜨겁게 사랑하시기에 예수교회 회복은 반드시 이뤄질 것이다.

Because He has never given up on His Church and continues to love it with a burning love, the restoration of the Church of Jesus is not only possible—it is certain.

먼저, 예수교회 회복은 성경으로 돌아가야 한다. First, the restoration of the Church of Jesus must begin with a return to Scripture.

예수교회를 회복하기 위해 주님에게로 돌아간다는 말은 성경으로 돌아간다는 말이다. 즉 성경적 교회로 돌아가야 한다는 것이다.

To return to the Lord in order to restore His Church means to return to the Bible. It means returning to the biblical model of the Church.

하나님이 우리에게 주시고자 했던 교회는 유기적인 생명체로서의 교회이다. 성경적인 교회란 예수 그리스도의 생명을 가진 유기체이지, 이 생명이 없는 조직, 시스템, 종교 집단이 아니다.

The Church God intended to give us is a living, organic body—not a religious organization, a human system, or a lifeless institution.
A biblical Church is an organic being that carries the very life of Jesus Christ.
It is not a system or structure that operates apart from that life.

개신교 종교개혁의 첫 번째 선언은 ‘성경으로 돌아가자’였다.

The first cry of the Protestant Reformation was: “(Let us) return to the Scriptures.”

역사 속에서 교회가 잘못된 길로 가서 어긋나 주님의 생명을 잃는 건 성경을 무시할 때부터 시작되었다.

Whenever the Church has strayed throughout history and lost the life of Christ, it has always begun with a disregard for Scripture.

성경보다 교회의 지도자들인 사람이 더 중심이 되고, 성경보다 교회 사역의 업적들이 드러나고, 성경보다 교회의 조직과 시스템으로 운영되는 것은 항상 타락의 전조였다.

When human leaders are exalted above God’s Word, when ministry achievements are prioritized over the Gospel itself,
when churches are run more by systems and structures than by the Spirit—that is the beginning of corruption.

그리고 예수교회 회복은 살아계신 하나님을 만나야 한다.

Second, the restoration of the Church of Jesus must come through encountering the Living God.

우리가 성경으로 돌아가면 죽은 하나님이 아니고, 인간이 만들어낸 우상이 아니라 살아계신 하나님을 만날 수 있다.

When we return to Scripture, we do not encounter a dead god or a man-made idol. We meet the Living God.

그래서 교회는 살아계신 하나님을 믿고, 임마누엘 하시는 주님 안에서 살아서 반응하는 생명의 유기적 존재이다. 

The Church, therefore, must be a living, organic being that believes in the Living God and responds to Him in the life-giving presence of Immanuel.

그리고 교회가 살아계신 하나님을 믿는다는 것은 죽은 신학 이론이나 철학적 관념, 사상, 세상의 종교들을 믿는 것이 아니다.

To believe in the Living God does not mean holding on to lifeless theology, abstract philosophy, or man-made religious systems.

그러므로 교회는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 살아계신 하나님을 만난 생명 공동체의 한 몸이 되게 하셨다.

The Church is a life-giving community - a body of believers who have encountered the Living God through Jesus Christ.

 

말씀기도 Scripture & Prayer

(디모데후서 3:14-17) 14 그러나 너는 배우고 확신한 일에 거하라 너는 네가 누구에게서 배운 것을 알며 15 또 어려서부터 성경을 알았나니 성경은 능히 너로 하여금 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암아 구원에 이르는 지혜가 있게 하느니라 16 모든 성경은 하나님의 감동으로 된 것으로 교훈과 책망과 바르게 함과 의로 교육하기에 유익하니 17 이는 하나님의 사람으로 온전하게 하며 모든 선한 일을 행할 능력을 갖추게 하려 함이라

1. 예수교회를 회복하는 유일한 길은 교회를 친히 세우신 주님께로 돌아가는 것이다. 주님에게로 돌아가는 길은 성경으로 돌아가 말씀대로 믿는 것이다. 주님은 성경을 통하여 참된 교회인 예수교회의 모습을 모두 말씀해 주셨다. 우리가 예수교회로 회복되기 위해 우리가 먼저 성경으로 돌아갈 것을 결단하며 기도하자.'

1. The only way to restore the Church of Jesus is to return to the One who established it—Jesus Himself.  
And the way back to Jesus is through the Word of God, by believing and obeying His truth.  
Through the Scriptures, the Lord has clearly revealed what His true Church—the Church of Jesus—is meant to be.  
Let us pray with conviction and commitment that we would return to the Bible, and that our restoration as the Church of Jesus would begin with a return to God’s Word.

2. 우리는 살아계신 하나님이 만드신 피조물이며, 포도나무이신 예수님의 가지이다. 농부이신 하나님이 포도나무 예수님께 붙어있는 한 몸의 가지인 교회를 통해서 열매를 맺어 주심에 감사하자. 그런데 교회에 열매가 없는 것뿐만 아니라 항상 많은 열매를 맺지 않는다면 주님의 말씀으로 깨끗하게 되어야한다. 그리하여 예수교회인 우리가 주님 안에, 주님이 우리 안에 거하여 살아계신 하나님을 믿는 생명의 열매를 많이 맺도록 기도하자. 

2. We are created by the Living God, and we are branches of the true vine—Jesus Christ.  
Let us give thanks that God, our Gardener, bears fruit through the Church as we remain united to His Son.  
Yet if there is little or no fruit, we must be cleansed by His Word.  
Let us pray that we, the Church of Jesus, would abide in Him, and He in us—  
so that, as a living body of believers who trust in the Living God,  
we may bear much fruit and become true witnesses of His life and presence in this world.

3. 교회는 예수 그리스도가 생명이 된 사람이다. The Church Is Made Up of Those Whose Life Is Jesus Christ

주님이 우리에게 성경을 통해 예배의 가장 본질을 말씀해 주셨다. 교회 안에 예배 의식과 전문 성직자도 필요하지만 그것이 성령님께서 하시는 일을 대신할 수 없고, 진리의 말씀과 하나님의 임재를 대신할 수는 없다. 교회가 행하는 눈에 보이는 많은 형식들과 시스템보다 중요한 건 진리의 말씀과 성령님의 임재이다. 교회가 성경의 진리를 벗어나서는 안된다. 교회의 예배에서 하나님의 말씀이며 복음의 진리이신 예수 그리스도가 중심이 되어야 한다. 그러기에 예수교회는 십자가 복음을 믿는 믿음이 외형적인 의식들과 이를 진행하는 사람들의 자격, 건물보다 하나님 앞에 실제가 되어야 한다.

The Lord has shown us, through Scripture, the very essence of true worship.  
While worship rituals and ordained ministers may have their place in the Church, they can never replace the work of the Holy Spirit, nor can they substitute for the Word of truth or the presence of God.

What matters more than visible structures, systems, or formalities is the living truth of the Word and the presence of the Holy Spirit.  
The Church must never stray from the truth of Scripture.  
In our worship, Jesus Christ—who is the Word and the truth of the Gospel—must remain the center.  
For this reason, in the Church of Jesus, faith in the Gospel of the Cross must become more real before God than any outward ritual, the qualifications of those leading it, or the buildings that house it.

1) 예수 그리스도가 생명이 된 사람이 교회이다(나를 향한 교회의 부르심). A Person Whose Life Is Christ — The Church’s Calling Toward the Individual

성경이 말하는 교회란 하나님의 말씀을 생명으로 믿어 그 사람에게 결론이 되고 운명이 된 진리의 성령에 사로잡힌 성도가 교회이다.

According to Scripture, the Church is the people who believes in the Word of God as life—  
one who is captivated by the Spirit of truth, for whom the Word has become their ultimate conclusion and destiny.

이 생명을 모든 죄인에게 주시려고 예수님이 그리스도, 구원자의 사역을 감당하셔서 십자가와 부활의 복음을 완성하셨다.

To give this life to all sinners, Jesus fulfilled His role as the Christ and Savior,  
accomplishing the Gospel of the Cross and Resurrection.

십자가 복음을 믿어 성령이 인도하는 대로 말씀으로 사는 사람이 성경이 말하는 교회이다.

The one who believes this Gospel of the Cross and lives by the Word as led by the Holy Spirit—  
that person is the kind of Church the Bible speaks of.

2) 예수 그리스도가 생명이 된 사람들이 모인 공동체가 교회이다(공동체를 향한 부르심). A Community Whose Life Is Christ — The Church’s Calling as a Body

구약성경의 이스라엘이 성전에서 제사 드리는 핵심은 하나님의 임재이다.

In the Old Testament, the heart of Israel’s worship at the temple was the presence of God.  

아무리 사람들의 최선으로 제사 의식을 행하여도 그곳에 하나님이 임재하지 않으시면 행위와 의식에 불과하다.

No matter how sincere or well-executed their sacrifices were,  
if God’s presence was not there, it was nothing more than empty rituals and religious activity.

마찬가지로 교회의 핵심은 바로 하나님의 임재이다. 하나님의 임재가 없는 교회는 사람들의 모임이요, 건물일 뿐이다. 그곳은 사람들이 주인이고, 사람들이 주체가 된 모임일 것이다.

Likewise, the true essence of the Church is the presence of God.  
A church without His presence is simply a human gathering—just another building.  
Such a place is led by people, driven by people, and ultimately centered on people.

그래서 주님이 ‘두 세 사람이 내 이름으로 모인 곳에는 나도 그들 중에 있겠다(마18:20)’고 하셨다.

This is why Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).

여기서 주님의 이름으로 모인 곳이란 예수 그리스도가 생명이 된 사람들이 모인 공동체를 말한다. 그래야만 그곳의 주인이 주님이 되시고, 그의 뜻대로 움직이는 주님이 꿈꾸시는 교회가 가능하기 때문이다.

To be gathered “in His name” means to be a community of people whose life is Jesus Christ.  
Only in such a community can Jesus truly be Lord, and only there can the Church become what He dreamed it would be - a body that moves by His will and lives for His glory.

1. 교회 예배의 가장 핵심은 하나님의 임재이다. 하나님께 드려지는 예배는 눈에 보이는 사람의 행위나 의식이 아니다. 교회는 사람들이 모여 예배하는 건물이나 장소가 아니라 예수 그리스도가 생명이 되어 임마누엘 하시는 그 사람이 중심이다. 바로 예수 그리스도가 생명인 된 나와 우리 각 사람이 교회인 것이다. 주님이 나를 교회로 부르셨음을 믿으며 나의 삶 전부에 하나님이 임재하시도록 기도하자.

The very heart of worship in the Church is the presence of God. True worship is not about human actions or rituals that can be seen. The Church is not merely a building where people gather - it is a person in whom Jesus Christ has become life, and in whom God dwells as Immanuel. That means I (and each of us) who has received the life of Jesus, am the Church. Let us pray with faith that the Lord has called us to be His Church, and ask that His presence would fill every part of our lives.

2. 하나님이 임재하시는 성도들이 모인 무리, 공동체가 또한 교회이다. 그래서 교회는 사람들의 원함과 협의, 최선으로 움직여지는 곳이 아니다. 전적으로 하나님에 의해서 말씀에 순종하는 성도들의 공동체가 교회이다. 성도들이 모인 교회에 사람이 주체가 아닌 주님이 주인이 되시고, 영과 진리로 살아계신 하나님을 예배하는 교회가 되도록 기도하자.

A gathering of believers in whom God dwells is also the Church. Therefore, the Church is not moved by human will, agreement, or good intentions. It is led entirely by God—by His Word and through a people who obey Him. Let us pray that our gatherings would not be man-centered but that Jesus would be the true Lord of His Church - and that we would worship the Living God in spirit and in truth.
