1. 예수교회의 사명 - 거룩하고 흠이 없는 교회 The Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ - A Holy and Blameless Church

예수교회의 사명은 하나님 앞에서 거룩하고 흠이 없는 교회로 세워지는 것이다. 성경은 이 사명을 명확히 제시하고 있다. 예수님이 교회를 세우신 목적은 거룩이다. 

교회는 그리스도의 몸이고 성도들은 그 지체이다. 성경은 교회가 거룩해야 하는 수준을 잘 보여준다. 그뿐만이 아니다. 주님이 주신 교회의 정체성 중 하나는 “세상의 빛과 소금”이다(마5:13-16). 소금의 가장 중요한 역할은 부패를 막는 것이다. 곧 존재를 존재답게 보존하는 기능을 말한다. 교회가 이 기능을 놓치지 말아야 한다. 교회가 주님의 거룩한 존재됨을 지켜야 한다. 

교회는 예수님 수준의 거룩을 가진 공동체다. 이는 인간이 이룰 수 없는 목표이기에 교회의 주인 되시는 예수님이 이를 주도하실 때만 가능하다. 그래서 교회의 머리가 예수 그리스도이시다. 교회는 그 거룩한 사명에 있어서도 온전히 “예수교회”여야 한다.

The mission of the Church of Jesus Christ is to be established as a holy and blameless church before God. The Bible clearly presents this mission. The purpose for which Jesus established the church is holiness.

The church is the body of Christ, and the saints are its members. The Bible shows us the level of holiness the church must attain. Moreover, one of the identities given to the church by the Lord is 'the salt and light of the world' (Matt 5:13-16). The most important role of salt is to prevent decay. It refers to the function of preserving the essence of existence. The church must not lose this function. The church must maintain the holy existence given by the Lord.

The church is a community with the holiness of Jesus Christ. Since this is an unattainable goal for humans, it is only possible when Jesus, the head of the church, leads it. Therefore, the head of the church is Jesus Christ. In its holy mission, the church must be fully 'the Church of Jesus.'

예수교회의 사명은 하나님 앞에서 거룩하고 흠이 없는 교회로 세워지는 것이다. 우리가 세상에서 맛을 잃은 소금처럼 부패하고 썩어 거룩하지 못했던 죄악을 회개하자. 교회로서의 사명을 상실하여 세상의 정욕과 탐심에 타협했던 어리석음을 인정하며 돌이키자. 예수교회의 거룩한 사명을 감당하기 위해 마음의 허리를 동이고 근신하며 머리 되신 예수님의 은혜를 끝까지 바라도록 기도하자.

The mission of the Jesus Church is to be established as a holy and blameless church before God. Let us repent of our sins, where we have become corrupted and unholy, like salt that has lost its flavor. Let us acknowledge the foolishness of compromising with the lusts and desires of the world, losing our mission as a church, and turn back. Let us pray that we may gird up the loins of our minds and remain sober, always looking forward to the grace of our head, Jesus Christ, in order to fulfill the holy mission of the Jesus Church.

주님은 교회의 외형적인 것을 보지 않고 중심을 보신다. 각 사람의 행위대로 심판하시는 하나님 앞에 모든 육체가 설 것을 알고 세상의 은이나 금 같이 없어질 것을 구하는 헛된 행실에서 떠나도록 기도하자. 거룩하신 어린 양 예수 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 대속함을 받은 예수교회의 부르심에 순종하도록 기도하자.

The Lord does not look at the outward appearance of the church but at its heart. Knowing that every flesh will stand before God, who judges each person’s deeds, let us pray to turn away from the vain deeds of seeking perishable things like silver and gold. Let us pray for obedience to the calling of the Jesus Church, redeemed by the precious blood of the holy Lamb, Jesus Christ.

교회는 그리스도와의 깊은 연합으로 하나님의 비밀을 가졌으며, 그리스도의 몸으로서 그의 사랑과 구속의 계획을 세상에 전하는 신비한 공동체이다. 하나님이 예수교회로 부르심을 받은 우리 각 사람에게 온전한 계시로 깨닫게 하셔서 이 비밀의 실체가 되신 예수 그리스도를 굳게 믿을 수 있도록 기도하자. 

The church, in deep union with Christ, holds the mystery of God, and as the body of Christ, it is a mysterious community that spreads His love and plan of redemption to the world. Let us pray that God grants each of us, who are called to be part of the body of Christ, a full revelation so that we may firmly believe in Jesus Christ, the reality of this mystery.

예수교회는 세상 가운데서 하나님의 영광을 위하여 부르심을 받았다. 이 시대의 예수교회가 예수 안에서 함께 상속자가 되고, 함께 지체가 되고, 함께 약속에 참여하는 자가 되어 은혜의 선물인 복음의 일꾼으로 살아가도록 기도하자. 죄악이 가득한 세상에서 예수 그리스도의 구원의 소식을 전파하고, 하나님의 사랑과 은혜를 증거하는 예수교회들이 일어나도록 기도하자.

The church is called to bring glory to God in the world. Let us pray that the church in this age may become heirs together with Christ, members together of one body, and participants together in the promise of Christ, living as workers of the gospel, the gift of grace. Let us also pray for the rise of Jesus Christ's churches that will spread the good news of salvation and testify to God's love and grace in this world full of sin.

성경은 교회를 향하여 범사에 감사할 것을 명령하고 있다. 성경이 감사와 찬양을 동의어로 쓰고 있음을 볼 때 찬양은 명령임을 알 수 있다. 성경은 교회를 향해 직접적으로 찬양하라는 명령을 주고 있다. 

The Bible commands the church to give thanks in all things. It is clear that praise and thanksgiving are used as synonyms in the Bible, making praise a command. The Bible directly commands the church to praise God.

교회의 목적은 하나님의 창조 목적과 연결되어 있다. 교회는 하나님의 영광을 찬송하는 교회로 부름 받았다. 이에 순종하였던 신약교회의 모습이 성경 곳곳에 나타난다. 성경은 예수교회가 하나님의 영광을 찬송하는 공동체가 되어야 한다고 분명히 강조하고 있다.

Thus, the church not only praises God's glory through the gospel of Jesus Christ but also praises Him in every situation where the gospel is shared.

우리가 예수교회로서 부름 받았다는 것은 복음을 세상에 전하며, 또 찬양의 삶을 살아야 한다는 의미다. 예수교회는 하나님의 영광을 드러낸다. 예수교회는 영광스러운 복음 안에서 공동체를 이루며, 함께 하나님을 찬양하고 예배하는 데 집중한다.

Being called as the church means that we are called to proclaim the gospel to the world and to live a life of praise. The church reveals God's glory. As a church, we live in the glorious gospel and focus on worshiping God together, praising Him as a community.

하나님을 찬송한다는 것은 좋은 일이나 원하던 일이 이루어졌을 때만 아니라 내가 원하지 않을 때에도, 큰 고난의 때에도 하나님으로 기뻐하며 찬양하는 것이다. 예수교회가 존재적 목적을 회복하여 모든 상황에서 하나님이 함께 하심을 신뢰하고, 선한 길로 인도하심을 찬양하도록 기도하자.

Praising God is not only for when things go well or when desired things are achieved, but it is also about rejoicing and praising God even in times when we do not want it, and even in times of great suffering. Let us pray that the church, as it recovers its existential purpose, will trust that God is with us in every circumstance and praise Him for guiding us along the good path.

교회는 하나님의 영광을 찬송하는 공동체이다. 오늘도 하나님은 전세계 나라와 민족, 족속과 방언 가운데 예수교회를 세우셔서 찬양이 가득하도록 일하고 계신다. 이제 열방의 예수교회들이 일어나 예수를 보지 못하였으나 사랑하면서 믿고 말할 수 없는 영광스러운 즐거움으로 기뻐하는 감사와 찬송을 하나님께 돌려드리도록 기도하자.

The church is a community that praises God's glory. Even today, God is at work raising up Jesus' churches among the nations, tribes, peoples, and languages all over the world, so that praise will abound. Let us pray that the churches in all nations will rise, loving Jesus even though they have not seen Him, and rejoicing with inexpressible and glorious joy, giving thanks and praise to God.
